Construction of Crossings Using Trenchless Technologies

Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)
Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) technology enables the construction of crossings beneath natural and man-made obstacles such as rivers, lakes, highways, railways, and dams without disrupting surface operations.
The technology offers significant economic advantages through:
- Reduced construction time and minimal workforce requirements;
- Lower pipeline inspection, maintenance, and emergency repair costs due to deep pipeline installation (with a service life of up to 100 years);
- Preservation of riverbanks, forests, protected areas, historical sites, parks, and transportation infrastructure.
Microtunneling
- This technology is widely used for the construction and rehabilitation of gas transmission systems in densely populated urban areas without disrupting traffic of any kind. It is also used to connect offshore and onshore pipeline sections during oil and gas pipeline construction.
- Tunnel excavation guided by a laser navigation system ensures exceptional accuracy in the construction of both straight and curved tunnels.
- For long-distance drives, intermediate jacking stations are employed, allowing the construction of extended tunnels with a minimal number of intermediate shafts or, in many cases, without any intermediate shafts at all.
Direct Pipe
The Direct Pipe method combines the advantages of Horizontal Directional Drilling and Microtunneling technologies.
It is used for the installation of pipelines beneath natural and artificial obstacles such as rivers, highways, dams, and similar structures in both urban and remote environments. The technology is also widely utilized for offshore pipeline construction.
The ability to simultaneously excavate and install the pipeline ensures continuous borehole stability, provides high installation rates, and delivers excellent project cost efficiency.
Horizontal Auger Boring (HAB)
Horizontal Auger Boring is used for the installation of pipelines beneath highways, railways, airport runways, and in other situations where ground settlement at the surface is unacceptable. It is also highly effective in densely developed urban environments.
The boring machine is installed within a launch shaft and advances using a rotating auger that cuts and removes the soil. As the machine progresses, additional pipe sections and auger sections are added.
Excavated material is removed exclusively through the interior of the jacked pipe, ensuring complete protection against surface settlement and guaranteeing that the obstacle being crossed remains undisturbed and deformation-free.
