VersaFlow Clamp-on Ultrasonic Flow Meters

A market leading process measurement device, Honeywell’s VersaFlow Clamp-On Ultrasonic flow meters are designed for applications where a customer is unwilling or unable to cut into the process measurement line to install an in-line meter.

VersaFlow Clamp-On Ultrasonic flow meters are designed for applications where a customer is unwilling or unable to cut into the process measurement line to install an in-line meter. Available in configurations for pipe line sizes from DN15 to DN4000 (1/2” to 160”), the clamp-on design offers a cost-effective means of measuring liquid flow through a pipe. With designs that can withstand up to 200˚C (392˚F), this technology is ideal for liquids with limited solids or gas content. Because it mounts on the outside of the pipe, there is no need to worry about material compatibility with the process being measured or the pressure in the pipeline.

Pipe Size Range

DN15 up to DN4000 (1/2″ to 160″)

Temperature Capability

Standard models can tolerate up to ~50 °C (120 °F)

There is an XT variant for higher temperatures (up to ~200 °C / 392 °F)

Measurement Principle

Uses transit-time ultrasonic measurement, which is accurate for clean liquids.

Measures volumetric flow rate, velocity, sound velocity in the fluid, signal quality (S/N), etc.

Accuracy & Repeatability

1% of measured value for pipes > DN 50 / > 2″.

Repeatability: 0.2%.

Communications

4–20 mA (HART) output.

Also has a frequency/pulse output (10 kHz).

Approval & Certification

Explosion-proof / hazardous area versions: ATEX, FM, CSA for zones 1 & 2.

Durable Electrical Connections

Gold-plated connectors for better signal transfer and corrosion resistance.

Graphical Display

The converter has a full graphical display and 4 optical keys for local operation.

Features

  • Sensors clamp to the outside of the pipe — no need to cut or interrupt the process line.
  • Continuous monitoring of signal quality, damping, and other diagnostic indicators.
  • Helps ensure long-term reliability and detect coupling issues
  • Built for long-term reliability, even in industrial environments.
  • Has a “regreasing” concept for sensor maintenance / re-use.
  • Uses a patented “rattle unit” for simple and secure clamping onto the pipe.
  • There is an installation wizard in the converter for correct setup.
