STT700 is a direct replacement for the STT250 and thus is suitable for the majority of process applications including those for control and safety while delivering excellent performance at a low installed cost.
Part of Honeywell’s SmartLine family — integrates well with Experion control systems (“SmartLine Connection Advantage”). Standard configuration tools: handheld communicator (HART), MC Toolkit; PC-based configuration also supported. Good for general process temperature measurement where good accuracy + stability is needed but without going to high-end premium transmitters. Suitable for control applications — the fast response and update time make it viable, not just monitoring. Can be used in safety-instrumented systems (SIS) because of SIL 2/3 compliance. Can replace older STT250 transmitters (drop-in) to standardize on SmartLine devices.
Digital accuracy up to ± 0.15 °C for RTD (Pt100) input.
Very good long-term stability: ± 0.05% of URL per year for up to 10 years.
500 ms (0.5 s) update time in single-input mode.
1 second update time in dual-input mode.
Supports RTD, thermocouple, and mV (millivolt) sensors.
Can be single-input (up to 4-wire RTD) or dual-input (two 3-wire RTDs) for redundancy or averaging.
Supports direct entry of Callendar–Van Dusen coefficients (R₀, α, β, δ) for calibrated RTDs.
4–20 mA analog output.
Digital communication: HART (v7) or Honeywell Digitally Enhanced (DE).
On-board diagnostics: sensor break detection, “comprehensive diagnostic capabilities.”
Supports NAMUR 89 (wire-break) detection.
Built-in galvanic isolation helps protect against electrical noise.
Flexible mounting: head-mount (DIN-Form A), field housing, panel mount, DIN-rail, etc.
Optional modular alphanumeric LCD display (field-installable), with orientation (0°, 90°, 180°, 270°).
SIL 2 / SIL 3 capable (functional safety) for safety-instrumented systems.
Hazardous-area approvals: FM, CSA, ATEX, IECEx.
Optional lightning protection module (gas discharge tube + electronics) that mounts to the terminal block.
Very low added loop resistance (< 1 Ω).
