SmartLine Level transmitters use guided wave radar (GWR) technology and can measure the level of a wide range of liquid products on a large variety of installations within the stated pressure and temperature range. With best-in-class performance, modular construction, an advanced display and the best integration features, SmartLine® Level Transmitters deliver total value across the entire plant lifecycle by helping users:
Honeywell offers the SmartLine Level Application and Validation Tool that helps users determine the optimal measurement solution for their application.
SmartLine Level Transmitter uses guided wave radar (GWR) technology and can measure the level of a wide range of liquid products on a large variety of installations within the stated pressure and temperature range. It can be deployed at blending tanks, distillation columns, process tanks, separators, solid silos (inventory) and storage tanks. It does not require calibration or commissioning upon installation, and can measure liquid interface with or without an air gap. Additionally, the level meter can measure the level and interface simultaneously, and is capable of measuring media with a dielectric constant of 1.4 or greater. A variety of rigid and flexible probes allow measurement in silos and tanks up to 50 m (164 ft) high. SmartLine Level Transmitter offers:
SmartLine Level Transmitters are used in applications where technologies such as capacitance, hydrostatic level or ultrasonic level measurements may have been used earlier. Immune to changes in conductivity, density, pressure and temperature, the level meters offer better reproducibility and accuracy than these other technologies. Since the signal travels up and down the probe, it is also unaffected by the angle of repose of a granular material.
Uses guided‑wave radar (GWR): microwave pulses travel down a probe (rigid or flexible), reflect at the liquid surface, and return.
Can measure level and interface (liquid / interface measurement) simultaneously.
Works with media dielectric constant ≥ ~1.4.
Accuracy: ± 3 mm or ± 0.03% of measured distance (whichever is greater).
Repeatability: ± 1 mm.
Measuring range: up to 50 m (164 ft), depending on probe.
Process temperature range: –60 °C to +450 °C.
Process pressure range: –1 bar to 400 bar.
Wetted materials: options like 316L stainless steel and Hastelloy C-276.
4‑20 mA (two-wire) output.
Digital communication: HART v7 and FOUNDATION™ Fieldbus.
External zero, span, and configuration via push-buttons.
Integral dual-seal design for safety and compliance (ANSI/NFPA 70‑202, ISA 12.27.01).
On-board diagnostics: health monitoring built in.
Functional safety capable: SIL 2 / SIL 3 options.
Modular construction: modules can be shared with other SmartLine instruments (pressure, temperature) — lowers spare‑parts cost.
Advanced local display: has a rich display that supports multiple screens (e.g., process variable, bar graph, trends) and configuration buttons.
Polarity‑insensitive terminals → reduces wiring errors.
SmartLine Application & Validation Tool: helps users validate the correct transmitter for their tank / process installation.
Integration with Honeywell Experion PKS: extended diagnostics, transmitter messaging, maintenance‑status display.
