Rosemount™ 3051S Thermal Range Expander

The Rosemount 3051S Thermal Range Expander enables transmitters to attach to high temperature processes in order to extend the thermal operating range and improve response time. Engineered with two different fill fluids, this product eliminates the need for heat tracing. This device can be used in various process applications, and allows for direct and remote mounting, Tuned-Systemassembly and balanced systems.

CHALLENGE

Applications that have extremely hot processes require specialized fill fluids that can handle high temperatures. These viscous fill fluids will gel at normal ambient temperatures and cause a differential pressure (DP) system’s response time to slow down, making it unusable. Often heat tracing is used to keep fill fluids warm, but the solution is expensive and maintenance-intensive.

OUR SOLUTION

The RosemountTM Thermal Range Expander enables DP Level systems to be direct-mounted on processes up to 410 °C (770 °F), and to provide repeatable, reliable measurements over a wide range of ambient temperatures. The solution can be installed right out of the box; it requires no additional impulse piping or heat tracing components, and eliminates extra installation costs and maintenance.

HOW IT WORKS

Two diaphragms allow the use of two separate fill fluids.

The device utilizes a high-temperature fill fluid to handle the hot process, and a different fill fluid to handle the ambient environment.
