EJXC40A Digital Remote Sensor (DRS) Differential Pressure System

The EJXC40A Digital Remote Sensor (DRS) transmitter connects two pressure sensors, the primary sensor (for high-pressure side) and secondary sensor (for low-pressure side) with DRS dedicated communication cable to measure differential pressure. The DP is transmitted via a 4 to 20 mA analog signal. EJXC40A is suitable to measure liquid, gas, or steam flow as well as liquid level, density and pressure.

Yokogawa’s DPharp sensor has the ability to measure the differential pressure (DP), static pressure (SP), and sensor temperature from a single sensor. Giving these three pieces of process data, Yokogawa’s transmitter can compensate the DP measurement for Temperature Effect and Static Pressure Effect in real time. This is referred to as Dynamic Compensation and improves the DP measurement accuracy. Competitor’s analog sensors can only measure DP and Sensor temperature. So, theirs can compensate for temperature Effect; but, since the SP measurement is missing, it cannot compensate for Static Pressure Effects. With our competitor’s transmitters using analog sensors, any application that requires measurement of both differential pressure (DP) and static pressure (SP) requires two separate transmitters – one to measure the DP and one to measure the SP. Yokogawa’s differential pressure transmitter with multi-sensing DPharp sensor, can measure both process variables (DP and SP) with a single transmitter. Two transmitters will always cost more than one transmitter. Remote-Sensor Architecture

Consists of two separate pressure sensors: a master (high-pressure) sensor + a slave (low-pressure) sensor.

These sensors are connected via a dedicated digital cable (not a capillary) to transmit differential pressure (DP).

Cable length supports up to 45 m, making it suitable for tall or large‐tank installations.

Digital link reduces errors due to ambient temperature variation: since sensors are connected by cable (vs oil-filled capillaries), thermal expansion effects are minimized.

Local compensation for ambient temperature → helps reduce measurement drift, especially in environments with varying temperature (e.g., tall tanks with sun/shade).

Eliminates the need for heat tracing on capillaries in very cold environments.

Signal Characterization / Customization

Supports signal characterization (up to 31-point) — this lets you tailor the 4–20 mA output to non-linear applications such as tank strapping or unusual geometry.

Local indicator can display multiple variables: DP, SP, capsule temperature, alarms, bar graph, etc.
