VersaFlow Vortex Shedding Flow Meter

VersaFlow Vortex Shedding flow meters are ideal for measuring steam, gasses, volumetric flow rate and low viscosity liquids in industrial applications. With built-in temperature and optional built-in pressure compensation, the flow meters are the most versatile products in their category.

The VersaFlow Vortex Shedding flow meter is a two-wire design that is available in configurations for pipe line sizes from DN15 to DN100 (1/2” to 4”) in a wafer design and DN15 to DN300 (1/2” to 12”) in a flanged design.

Measurement Capabilities

Measures volumetric flow, mass flow, and energy (for steam/hot water).

Suitable for steam, gases, and low-viscosity liquids.

Integrated Compensation

Built-in temperature compensation as standard.

Optional integrated pressure compensation (for gases, superheated steam) so you don’t need a separate pressure sensor.

Has density compensation, which allows accurate mass flow measurement even when pressure/temperature fluctuate.

Two-Wire Design

The meter operates on a 2-wire transmitter design, which simplifies installation and reduces wiring costs.

Signal Processing

Uses AVFD (Advanced Vortex Frequency Detection) — a high-performance signal filter for stable vortex detection.

Also includes ISP (Intelligent Signal Processing) to improve reliability and filter out noise/interference.

Robust Construction

Non-wearing, fully welded stainless steel body → high resistance to corrosion, pressure, and temperature.

Maintenance-free sensor design.

Mechanical Options

Available in flanged design for larger pipes (DN15 to DN300, i.e. ½″ to 12″) and wafer (sandwich) design for DN15 to DN100 (½″ to 4″).

Sandwich version has centering rings to help align the meter in the pipeline.

Diagnostics & Configuration

Temperature and pressure (if used) data can be accessed via HART.

PACTware support — easy to configure.

Operating Principle

Works on vortex shedding (Kármán vortex street): flow past a bluff body generates vortices; their frequency is proportional to fluid velocity.

The integrated electronics convert that frequency to flow rate.

Features

  • Cost-efficient installation: thanks to 2-wire design and integrated sensors.
  • Versatility: can handle vapor, liquids, and gases; suitable for energy measurement.
  • Robustness: durable stainless-steel construction, low maintenance.
  • High accuracy & reliability: advanced signal processing and compensation make readings stable even under variable process conditions.
